Therapeutic Yoga Classes

Yoga not only lowers heart rate, helps people relax, and increases strength and flexibility (thus decreasing back pain).  According to National Geographic, which cites the largest yoga study to use biological measures in its assessment, yoga also reduces inflammation – including the types of inflammation associated with cancer treatments and chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes and arthritis.

At Wellness Works, choose from four styles of yoga to incorporate into your wellness plan for an all-around healthier and happier lifestyle!  In our small nurturing classes (12 student max) you will get individual attention, modifications and personal connection.

Gentle Yoga Class - is ideal for those who are brand new to yoga, or simply love to move slowly and relax deeply. There will be a blend of standing, seated and floor postures in this class.

Restorative Yoga Class - Restorative yoga can be used to either complement a more active yoga practice and lifestyle, or function as a stand-alone therapy to treat chronic stress, high blood pressure, insomnia, past physical injuries and other ailments. Each class is taught exclusively on the floor. Gentle postures are held with the support of blankets and blocks while you breathe deeply.  Come relax, renew and restore. Open to all levels!

Yin & Restore Class – This class is perfect to end your busy day. It's a mix of Yin yoga and Restorative yoga, with an emphasis on breath and mindfulness.  Each class is taught exclusively on the floor, holding each passive pose for several minutes. We use blankets, blocks and bolsters to support the limbs. Open to all levels.

Yoga in Chairs Class - Yoga in Chairs works your joints and muscles to increase flexibility, strength, balance and circulation – all from the stability of a chair. It takes you beyond typical form of exercise by simultaneously encouraging quiet reflection, proper breathing and better posture.  Join us for a gentle yet invigorating workout. Open to all levels!

What others are saying about Therapeutic Yoga

Yoga in Chairs with instruction by Michelle has been one of the most beneficial activities for me since being diagnosed with MS nine years ago...I'm convinced the full body work out I experience with each Yoga session has postponed some of the debilitating symptoms of the disease....I've done well maintaining  my coordination, balance, and stamina. And our group is so supportive of each other; it's like an extended family.

Barbara, Yoga in Chairs Student

Some mornings I move slowly with zero motivation. I force myself out of the house to go to yoga class. After spending an hour with Michelle practicing yoga while breathing, stretching and calming my mind I leave rejuvenated and ready to start my day. Thank you, Michelle.
